A summer wedding can be the height of romance, and when it comes to settings, it’s hard to beat the friendly, beachy vibes of La Jolla. We’ve talked about honeymooning in La Jolla, but La Jolla has much to offer couples in the process of getting married, too. Whether you’re a local or coming from afar for a destination wedding, there are several potential venues to choose from. Here are some of the best:
Beaches & Parks
If you’ve planned to have your wedding in La Jolla, chances are the first thing that came to mind was a wedding on the beach. And indeed, there are several parks right along the beach in La Jolla where you can host your wedding. Eleanor Browning Scripps Park, for instance, has a stunning view of La Jolla Cove and the Pacific Ocean, while also appealing to couples who enjoy the greenery. The Wedding Bowl at Cuvier Park is perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies, perched on a hill overlooking the water. Calumet Park, located in the Bird Rock neighborhood, is perhaps less known to visitors but one of La Jolla’s most beautiful hidden beach wedding venues.
Want to add some historic charm and elegance to your wedding? Consider getting married at Darlington House. This 1925 house is run and preserved by the Social Service of La Jolla, so booking with this venue supports a good cause, too: providing housing and meals for senior citizens of San Diego. It’s also a beautiful wedding venue, with many different options, from the Andalusian Patio in the Spanish style that hosts 80 guests to the lush, fragrant Rose Garden that can hold up to 200 guests.
La Jolla Cove Bridge Club
The La Jolla Cove Bridge Club is much more than just a place to play bridge. It can also be rented out for events, such as weddings. This is a desirable location, combining the popularity of La Jolla Cove with indoor spaces to beat the heat. Take a look at their wedding photo gallery to see some of their past wedding events. It’s not hard to see yourself getting married there as well.
Want a wedding with a unique feel as well as great food? Then check out Herringbone as your wedding venue. Herringbone is a West Coast restaurant featuring delicious coastal food and a setting that’s contemporary, earthy and warm. The olive trees that rise from the floor are over 100 years old and there’s an exhibition kitchen for extra excitement. This can be a wedding venue, but is even more popular as a wedding reception venue. It is a tighter space, so intimate wedding parties are best. Still, it’s a unique experience that’s worth looking into.
