Meet The New Owners!

Hello everyone,

I am Captain Ed and my beautiful wife of 40 years is Laurel. We recently became the new owners of the fabulous Bed and Breakfast Inn at La Jolla, and we are so very excited to enter into this new adventure. The Inn is stunningly beautiful and serene, and it sits a half block from the ocean. Our chefs prepare wonderful gourmet breakfasts and they bake delicious cookies and scones that are always available for guests. From five to six there is a wine, cheese and fruit spread that is divine. The atmosphere is that of a retreat, where you really feel refreshed and renewed, having gotten away from your everyday stresses and strains. It is very quiet in this neighborhood, except when there is a wedding or celebration next door at the La Jolla Woman's Club (wherein we often coordinate coservices). These events usually end at a reasonable hour. Across the street is the La Jolla Recreation Center which is open to the public and has a large play area for children of different ages, and it has an area for basketball, tennis, soccer and an area for picnics and parties. Dogs love walking on the expansive lawns in the front of the recreation center buildiing. Our concierge will hook you up with great adventures and wonderful meals at the finest La Jolla restaurants with best views and tables available.

My wife and I are both therapists still in practice in the Santee area. Our office there is called Santee Family Counseling Center. I am an avid scuba diver. I enjoy boating, music, cooking, walking, being at the beach, socializing, working as a therapist, and now being the proud owner of a wonderful Inn by the sea. My wife also enjoys these things and also reading, doing Sudoku, puzzles and spending time with our grandchildren.

We have decided to start accepting guests with children in the rooms in the annex portion of the building. In addition, in the rooms in the annex we are now accepting guests with friendly dogs. There is a leash law in San Diego which must be observed and your loved dogs and children should not left unattended. Water bowls are available in the gardens. Of course we expect owners to pick up after their pets. We will give directions to local dog parks, 'Dog Beach', and dog-friendly restaurants.

We have a policy of respectful quietness after 9:00 PM.

We hope you come stay with us soon, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast, the complimentary wine and cheese served 5:00-6:00 PM, the magnificent sunsets, and the nearby beach. You will be very glad you did, and so will we.

- Captain Ed
