La Jolla Independent Businesses: Fine Dining

March 25, 2019

Not every experience of eating out needs to be fine dining. In fact, little diners, pubs, and counter service restaurants all have their place. However, when you’re on vacation, you want to be able to do something that you might not otherwise do in your everyday life. It can be nice to dress up and go to a fine dining restaurant where you know you can expect delicious gourmet food and excellent service.

If your vacation is in La Jolla, California, you’ll find several such fine dining restaurants, often incorporating beautiful beach views and other natural elements that bring out the beauty of the area. Here are just a few:

Nine-Ten is not only a locally owned restaurant, but their cuisine is itself local. Produce comes from artisanal farmers and many of the fish served are from local La Jolla waters, as well as from Hawaii and the North Pacific. This is an elegant restaurant that gives you a good excuse to dress up and feel pampered for a night, but you don’t have to worry about a slim menu. They offer many selections for breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, and a separate bar menu and wine list. Located in downtown La Jolla, they offer a number of private dining experiences, including a beautiful terrace. But the main attraction here is the beautifully plated, delicious food.

Marine Room

If you’re looking for a fine dining experience that’s truly on the water, look no further than the Marine Room. Located immediately seaside, the Marine Room is well-known for being at eye level with the surf, so you can watch and hear the waves crashing from your window, heightening the dining experience. They have an award winning executive chef, Bernard Guillas, who’s even been called “world class” in his career. Salmon, Ahi Tuna, and Filet Mignon are all delicious samplings here. The Marine Room has won several awards in the world of fine dining, and with one visit, it’s not hard to see why.

Manhattan of La Jolla

You might be vacationing on the West Coast, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a taste of the East Coast while you’re here. Manhattan of La Jolla is a New York inspired Italian restaurant located right here in La Jolla. They have live music for entertainment, imported coffee, beautiful artwork in the dining area, and of course, a lunch, dinner, and dessert menu to make the mouth water. Consider their house specialty Cannelloni: homemade pasta stuffed with meats, spinach, and Italian spices. The lobster ravioli is also a big favorite. However, they have vegetarian options, too, such as the Penne Primavera, Eggplant Parmigiana, or Gnocchi con Pomodoro e Balsamella. The exposed brick walls and beautiful old Hollywood-esque paintings give this restaurant the feeling of an exclusive club, which makes it all that much more special for you.

You can also enjoy delicious food via room service or extra packages when you stay at The Bed & Breakfast Inn at La Jolla. And don’t forget, when you book with us directly, we’ll price match your room plus a 5% discount.
