Where to Get Brunch in San Diego

What vacation is complete without getting brunch somewhere in the city you’re visiting? There’s something about brunch that seems to be the ultimate “treat yourself” meal — even more than dessert sometimes. It’s also a great time to meet up with friends before starting your next round of vacation and sight-seeing adventures. In San Diego, there are a number of places where you can get a great brunch. Here are a few of our favorites:

The Westgate Hotel

The traditional brunch is more than just a meal — it’s an experience. On the second floor of the Westgate Hotel, you’ll find a lavish, luxurious brunch experience, including mimosas or Bloody Mary’s, omelets and eggs benedict, and a seafood station if that’s your preference. They also have a dessert station so that you can truly and fully treat yourself. This is the kind of place to bring a friend, or to impress a friend by meeting to catch up there. Brunch is served on Sundays, of course, between 10am and 2pm.

If it’s a nice day and you want to get brunch while enjoying the outdoors, the answer is Campfire. Campfire has an outdoorsy, communal sort of theme to it — much like sitting around a campfire. Much of the food even reflects that, like their camp rice bowl with forbidden black rice, pickles, fried eggs, avocado, and kale, or their smoked beef hash option. A weekend trip to Campfire might not be the traditional brunch option, but it will make you want to go camping at the next opportunity. Check them out for brunch between 10am and 3pm on the weekends.

The Farmer and Seahorse

The interior of The Farmer and Seahorse is as charming as the name, with wood beam ceilings and pops of deep aqua throughout the restaurant. They have an extensive brunch cocktail list, including a Peppered Bloody Margaret, Cazuela, and a Daily Sangria. Their food options are also scrumptious, including crab cake toast, breakfast pizza, or a ricotta-yogurt souffle pancake. They serve brunch between 10am and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

JRDN at Tower23

This brunch location is located beachside, so it’s the perfect place to start your day before you head out to the beach or to go shopping. They’re famous for their jumbo sticky buns, which change every day, but their vegetable scrambles, avocado toast, or parmesan crusted croque madame are also excellent options. All this in a fresh, modern setting with a 70-foot “wave wall” and color changing lighting.
