4 Ways to Cool Off in San Diego

San Diego has its fair share of hot days, even as autumn approaches. The warm, sunny weather year round is one of the things visitors often love about the place. However, too much sun can be a little overwhelming and might put a damper on your trip if you don’t take some time to cool off. Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities to cool off, both indoors and outdoors in San Diego. Here are a few of our favorite ways to cool off while you’re here:

Go Ice Skating

Ice skating may not be the first thing on your mind when you think of visiting San Diego, but if you’re looking for a cooler day, an indoor ice skating arena could be the perfect activity. It’s great for the family or for skating enthusiasts who like to go solo. You have a few different indoor ice skating rinks to choose from, like Kroc Center Ice, San Diego Ice Arena, or UTC Ice Sports Center. If you don’t love ice skating yourself, you can check out a San Diego Gulls game.

Go Shopping

If it’s too hot outside, maybe you need to get inside and immerse yourself in central air conditioning. This could be the perfect time to get your shopping done, whether you’re looking for new clothes, books, or a souvenir for friends back at home. Thinking of hitting the mall? If it’s clothes you want, check out Fashion Valley. Westfield Plaza Bonita is another popular mall option.

Go Swimming

Going to the beach is a classic option, and for good reason. The gorgeous coast drives people from all over to visit San Diego. It’s also a great way to cool off. Of course, the shore will be hot, so you’ll want to apply plenty of sunscreen. The water, however, is nice and cool. If you’re in La Jolla, La Jolla Cove offers a beautiful view and perfect water for swimming. La Jolla Shores and Windansea Beach are other excellent options, especially if you like to swim. If you want to avoid the beach, consider checking out a swimming pool. There are a number of public pools, as well as indoor pools where you won’t have to go out into the heat at all.

Go to a Water Park

Looking for another option that allows you to enjoy the outdoors while still cooling off? Lucky for you, San Diego has a few water parks to choose from. You can take the whole family on this excursion and take plenty of pictures for social media or memories to come. Seaworld’s Aquatica is a massive water park with several exciting rides and slides, as well as wave pools and rivers. Nearby Knott’s Berry Farm also has a thrilling water park called Soak City. If you’re staying in La Jolla, the La Jolla Indian Reservation also has a small water park.

There are plenty of ways to stay cool during your San Diego vacation, including choosing the right accommodations. Don’t forget when you book direct with The Bed & Breakfast Inn in La Jolla, we’ll price match your room and throw in a 5% discount.
