The weather is warming up, the sun is coming out, and flowers are in bloom. It’s a wonderful time of year to visit La Jolla. Spring events are kicking off, as well. No matter what point of spring you choose to visit La Jolla, you’ll be able to find exciting spring events to make your trip worth remembering. Here are just a few of our favorites:
The Med is known throughout La Jolla as a delicious Cali-Mediterranean brunch buffet location. But they’re also known for their spring tea. On April 11 and again on May 2, from 2-4, you can enjoy afternoon tea at The Med, including your favorite teas, finger sandwiches, and sweets. If you book the Pink Lady Tea, you can enjoy all the same treats with a glass of bubbly to truly treat yourself.
For automobile buffs, you can’t miss La Jolla Concours d’Elegance this April. It’s the 16th annual showcase of some of the most beautiful automobiles in existence right now. This year, the festival celebrates 110 years since the first Bugatti was produced for the public and shows Ettore Bugatti’s influence as a car designer. They also celebrate the “sportscar of the century,” the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. All proceeds go to the La Jolla Historical Society.
If you’re a runner yourself, you probably already know about the La Jolla half marathon. If you’re planning on participating, you’ve probably been training for months. But even if that’s not the case, it can still be a fun event as a spectator, especially if you’re an athletics enthusiast. This is a rugged half marathon course, taking runners through hills, along the coast, and through the Torrey Pines Golf Course. It’s a chance to see not only the runners but the stunning natural scenery of La Jolla.
Every year, UTC Ice hosts a spring show, and this year’s theme is Movie Madness! It showcases some of the best movies of the century through ice skating. Want to be more than a spectator? Registration to be part of the ice show ends on March 28th, so you still have time to sign up!
Nothing says spring like a walk through a beautiful garden. The La Jolla Historical Society offers a one night peak into some of the beautiful private gardens throughout La Jolla. The Friday night soiree offers a chance to meet with fellow garden enthusiasts and talk over hors d’oeurves, wine, live music, and mood setting candlenight. From there you can take tours, self-guided or otherwise, through some of the most well cultivated gardens in the area.
