Spending Easter away from home? That’s no problem in San Diego and La Jolla! Whether you’re away on business, visiting family, or just needed to take a spring vacation, you’ll love the sunny, beautiful Easters here. There are events throughout the area that small kids will love as well as adults. You may find that you enjoy Easter here so much that you come back for subsequent easters. Here are some of our favorite ways to celebrate Easter in San Diego:
Easter at Belmont Park
Here you’ll find opportunities to get pictures with the Easter Bunny for free throughout the park. If you book in advance, you can check out the egg hunt on the beach, as well as an egg hunt within Belmont Park itself (for kids 12 and under at staggered times based on age group). This popular beachfront park has all the usual thrills and favorites, but goes all out for easter.
La Jolla Spring Egg Hunt
Looking for a traditional easter, pastel eggs included? Then check out the La Jolla Recreation Center on the morning of April 11 for a delightful spring egg hunt. There’s an egg hunt every half hour, separated by age group, so kids of all ages can enjoy the day. And there’s more than just a chance to find candy filled eggs. There are arts and crafts, goodie bags, and meet and greet opportunities with Peter Rabbit himself — even a chance to get a picture with him.
Spring Eggstravaganza at Birch Aquarium
You can find another egg hunt at Birch Aquarium at Scripps — but this one is underwater. The crafts here include shark egg crafts that can educate your kids about underwater life as well as giving them a fun time for easter. You can also check out dive shows and you may even see the Scuba Bunny while you’re here, a fun twist on the typical Easter Bunny!
Easter Brunch at the Lodge
Easter shouldn’t only be a good time for the kiddos. Looking for a delicious Easter brunch, including seafood, soft savory tastes, and sparkling wine while you overlook beautiful views? Don’t miss the Easter Brunch at the Lodge at Torrey Pines. The Lodge is located at Torrey Pines Golf Course and overlooks the ocean for a perfect spring view. Brunch is a full three-course meal from renowned Executive Chef Jeff Jackson. Make sure to book ahead of time to ensure your place at this annual brunch.
Beyond these events, you could enjoy a picnic on the beach, an Easter day of surfing, or a delicious three-course breakfast from your Bed & Breakfast Inn accommodations at La Jolla.
